The French law of July 4 th, 2001 made it easier for all women to undergo abortion, particularly younger women, by permitting abortion without parental consent. In these cases, the young woman is accompanied by a chosen adult. Physicians, however, ask themselves the question of how to support young women, who are sometimes very young. Due to the need to act quickly, the prejudice against abortion, and cultural aspects, there is a real risk that only the symptoms are addressed without questioning the context in which the pregnancy took place, in particular, underlying issues, serious family problems, lack of emotional support or even child neglect, abuse, and sexual assault, which raises questions regarding the enforcement of child protection.
