Appeared in the 2010s, time-lapse technology immediately generated a lot of interest and was rapidly implemented in several IVF laboratories. While the interest of this technology in optimizing embryonic culture conditions and improving the evaluation of embryonic quality is generally recognized, its real contribution to improving couples’ chances of success in IVF is still debated in the literature. Despite certain limitations, the use of time-lapse nevertheless makes it possible to envisage promising prospects, both in research and in vitro fertilization.
