Multiple regression models

Sang Thrombose Vaisseaux. Volume 23, Number 7, 360-70, Septembre 2011, Note méthodologique

Résumé   Texte intégral

Author(s) : Florence Gillaizeau, Sophie Grabar

Summary : Multivariate analyses are widely used in medical research especially to describe the association between two variables whilst controlling for other variables. However, the clinician is often not comfortable enough with these mathematical models and their interpretation to make her/his own judgment of the results. This paper aims to describe in a simple fashion the multiple regression models and illustrate their interpretation using two medical examples of the linear regression and the logistic regression models.

Keywords : Regression analysis, linear models, logistic models, risk factors, confounding factors, adjustment
