Summary : In pediatric patients, central venous access has become essential for intravenous long-lasting therapy. Withdrawal or total occlusion is frequent. Catheter removal and replacement carry additional physical, psychological, and financial risks or complications. To prevent catheter occlusion, flush is the better treatment. Different treatment options, chemical and biochemical drugs are available for restoring patency. Local intracatheter thrombolysis has emerged as the treatment of choice for central venous catheter occlusion. Among the different thrombolytics extractive urokinase can restore the patency central line. But the mechanism, dose-ranging protocol, and duration of exposure to the drug have to be precise. |
