Sang Thrombose Vaisseaux. Volume 17, Number 5, 265-72, Mai 2005, Mini-revue

Résumé   Article gratuit

Author(s) : Jean-Michel Grinda

Summary : Mechanical cardiac assist devices are now a therapeutic option in advanced cardiac failure. The increase in their use is related to the higher prevalence of advanced cardiac failure and the lack of cardiac transplantations. Different devices under clinical evaluation are available for conventional indications of bridging to transplantation and recovery, and are now destined for therapy. The availability of a kit for emergency assistance provides an option for urgent peripheral implantation, as a bridge to a long-term assist devices. This review describes these different evolutions.
