Electrocardiographic changes in acute stroke

Sang Thrombose Vaisseaux. Volume 13, Number 4, 224-30, Avril 2001, Mini-revues

Résumé   Article gratuit

Author(s) : Stéphane Berroir, Pierre Amarenco

Summary : Ischemic stroke, like other intracranial diseases, may lead to cardiac events such as QT prolongation, ST depression and rhythm disturbance. Electrocardiographic abnormalities in acute stroke may reflect a possible causative cardiac disease but also a transient dysfunction of a normal heart. Stroke located on the right side and insular stroke are the main and probably additive risk factors of cerebrogenic cardiac disturbances and probably of sudden death following stroke.
