Venous thromboembolic disease during pregnancy

Sang Thrombose Vaisseaux. Volume 11, Number 1, 16-21, Janvier 1999, Mini-revues

Résumé   Article gratuit

Author(s) : Emile Ferrari, Didier Jambou, Florence Fischer, Annie Appert-Flory, Jacques Bayle, Marcel Baudouy

Summary : Venous thromboembolic disease in pregnancy is an important problem. Recent results of large scale trials have improved our knowledge of its epidemiology and risk factors. Physiopathological concepts of this disease are under review due to progress in haematology and molecular biology which has led to essential discoveries concerning the changes in haemostasis during pregnancy. Diagnosis and treatment have not changed but benefit from recommendations of consensus conferences. They provide guide lines and should enable uniformity in the management of this disease which, in this specific context, is particularly difficult to diagnose.
