Transcutaneous ultrasound assessment of internal thoracic artery grafts

Sang Thrombose Vaisseaux. Volume 11, Number 8, 603-8, Octobre 1999, Mini-revues

Résumé

Author(s) : Jean-Luc Cracowski, Olivier Pichot, Dominique Blin

Summary : Transcutaneous doppler ultrasound is frequently used for noninvasive evaluation of left internal mammary artery graft blood flow. The upper left parasternal and supraclavicular positions can be used to explore internal mammary artery flow. Duplex ultrasonography has a good sensitivity and specificity versus coronary angiography. However, detection of stenosis should take into account the quality of the distal run off. Doppler ultrasonography represents a valuable tool in the diagnosis of internal mammary artery graft dysfunction.
