Educating high cardiovascular risk patients

Sang Thrombose Vaisseaux. Volume 12, Number 5, 273-8, Mai 2000, Mini-revues

Résumé   Article gratuit

Author(s) : Isabelle Durack, Rémi Gagnayre, Éric Bruckert

Summary : A large number of epidemiologic studies have proven the effects of intensive cardiovascular risk factors control on the reduction of cardiovascular events. However, the lack of compliance with long term treatment raises the problem of educating patients with high cardiovascular risk. Therapeutic patient education following the recent World Health Organisation guidelines is a solution to this health care problem. Therapeutic patient education has proven its efficiency in other chronic diseases, such as diabetes and asthma, but still remains a big challenge for atherosclerotic disease.
