Summary : Two-third of patients with Parkinson’ disease (PD) experience pain. Two kind of pain related to PD have been identified : nociceptive pain (musculo-skeletal, dystonic, radiculalgia) and neuropathic pain. Several studies have shown a nociceptive processing central dysfunction with decreased pain thresholds in PD. Dopaminergic system could be involved in this nociceptive dysfunctionning and noradrenergic and opioid systems as well. Chronic analgesic drug prescription (opioids, acetaminophen, antiepileptics and antidepressants) is more prevalent in PD patients than in the general population. |
