Summary : Obesity in pregnancy is increasing and therefore a focus of public health concern. This condition threatens the health of both mother and fetus. Maternal risks linked to obesity are gestational diabetes, preeclampsia and pregnancy induced hypertension. Obesity is significantly associated with an increased cesarean rate. Fetal macrosomia and its adverse outcomes are more common in obese women. It is important to consider pregnant women as a high risk group. Their management involves a multidisciplinary well-trained team with an adequate equipment. |
