Summary : In recent years, in vitro fertilization (IVF) has taken all its growth and has demonstrated its efficacy and superiority over other assisted reproduction techniques. However, it remains expensive and restrictive with its desensitizing protocols, which are not risk free. Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is not a substitute for IVF in its strict indications. However IVF should not replace IUI when it has a chance of success, especially in unexplained infertility, and subfertility, cervical etiologies and others… Our article is an overview of the IUI, its techniques, indications and outcomes.

Keywords : insemination, intrauterine, in vitro fertilization, fertility
