Author(s) : Catherine Rongieres, Gabrielle Fritz

Summary : The frequency of the multiple pregnancies from the Medical care in the Assistant Reproductive Treatment (ART) became a subject of world concern in terms of Public Health. The twin pregnancies and more still the pregnancies of higher ranks are associated with a less good obstetric forecast, a higher rate of prematurity and small or very small born weight as well as perinatal mortality. The factor influencing the most the rate of multiple pregnancies in vitro fertilization (IVF) is the number of transferred embryos. We sent a questionnaire coupled with boards in 54 centres in France so as to know the number of centres which established the elective single embryo transfer (eSET) among their picked up population, the rules of the organized politic and the results obtained as well for those who had a politic of transfer of eSET or not. We return here the preliminary results of an inventory of fixtures in France. This allows to report an efficiency of the eSET within the framework of rules and to elaborate a harmonization of the practices.

Keywords : elective single embryo transfert, IVF, ICSI, twin pregnancy
