The oncogenic potential of HPV. What is the real issue?

Médecine. Volume 8, Number 2, 59-60, Février 2012, Thérapeutiques

Résumé   Article gratuit

Author(s) : Jean-Pierre Vallée

Summary : The vaccines targeting oncogenic HPV types, on outcomes related to vaccine HPV types, have high efficacy and seem to be safe. On the other hand, a cautious approach may be justified in the light of important questions which were left without answers about the overall vaccine effectiveness, its duration of protection, and adverse effects that may emerge over time. Various diagnostic procedures such as Pap smears screening have proved to be able to eradicate the oncogenic potential of HPV.

Keywords : Papillomavirus Infections\; Uterine Neoplasms\; Vaginal Smears\; Vaccination
