The obscure object of desire and the secret places of Health. Part one: desire and need...

Médecine. Volume 7, Number 2, 91-4, Février 2011, Vie professionnelle

Résumé   Article gratuit

Author(s) : Jérôme Porée

Summary : What are the patients' expectation and how to ensure that they meet a real need? Any effort to rationalise health expenditures raises the question. There is reason to hope, certainly, that I fill at least the question itself. But by mentioning what Buñuel called in an old movie, the “Obscure Object of Desire”, I take the risk of betraying also this hope. Yet Buñuel could not be better advised. Being this in mind, is it possible to evaluate objectively and quantify patients' expectations?

Keywords : anthropology, health, sociology
