ADHD, current classification, problems and issues

l'Information Psychiatrique. Volume 87, Number 5, 379-82, Mai 2011, Troubles des conduites et troubles envahissants du développement chez l’enfant et l’adolescent

Résumé   Texte intégral

Author(s) : Michel Lecendreux

Summary : Harmonisation of terminologies regarding ADHD appears a necessity so that this complex disorder and often poorly understood by the general public and health actors to be recognized and treated in the best conditions. The term used by the ICD hyperkinesia 10 leaves little room for the size of neurocognitive disorder that is described in the DSM (attention deficit) and approximated in the French classification (CFTMEA). The term hyperkinesia or hyperkinetic disorder in ICD-10, also little used in everyday language, is likely to ignore the dimension that is essential psychopathological deficits in attention and executive function in orienting exclusively a disorder or primarily behavioural. This approach appears desirable and more in tune with the developmental trajectories of the disorder, particularly with the frequent changes to the form with attention deficit in adults.

Keywords : attention deficit disorder, hyperactivity, children, nosology, hyperkinesia, trastorno deficitario de la atención, hiperactividad, niño, nosología, hiperkinesia
