Cyberspace and aid relationship

l'Information Psychiatrique. Volume 86, Number 9, 759-61, novembre 2010, Les réseaux de communication modernes et leurs conséquences

Résumé   Texte intégral

Author(s) : V Caillier, Willy Falla

Summary : This article is based on an experiment that was conducted between 2000 and 2002 on the Internet website Psy-web created by the authors. Of the hundreds of questions received from the Web surfers over a one year period, 90% of responses on the site have been concerned with warning surfers about the impossibility of processing the application by e-mail and referring them to a real care site by explaining how to contact emergency public and private psychiatric clinics. After presenting the content and evolution of the site, the authors describe the creation of their section called “CyberConseil” (CyberCounselling) and originality of the technique they were asked to create to make it functional. Finally, they share their uncertainties and limitations of “CyberConseil”.

Keywords : internet, psychiatric illness, counselling, patient information, cybertherapy
