Paranoia of Grace

l'Information Psychiatrique. Volume 86, Number 4, 301-7, avril 2010, Politique et subjectivité

Résumé   Article gratuit

Author(s) : Eduardo Mahieu

Summary : We report the case of a patient who committed an absurd robbery in order not only to deal with his psychopathological problems that he tried to confront in different forms of opera, but also with the exceptional state of contemporary politics according to the Italian Philosopher Giorgio Agamben. In all three cases, the individual admits to having committed his error before another Sovereign Authority of the Law. From paranoia to self-punishment paranoia of grace, the route leads from guilt to innocence, from tragedy to comedy. This case also highlights the attempts of transformation involved on how psychiatric help is conceived.

Keywords : paranoia, law, authority, subjectivity, self-punishment, opera, healing, clinical case
