Usefulness of a gerontopsychiatric out-patient hospital in a series of care unit systems for aged patients

Summary : The out-patient hospital has a therapeutic care function that is well established in psychiatric practice through its various functions: alternative to hospitalization, early management, feed-back within the context of follow-up, psychotherapeutic intervention. In this article we will detail its different frameworks in the field of psychiatric care for aged patients including the various psychiatric and neuropsychiatric disorders within this age group, while also underlining its specific place in operative care.
