l'Information Psychiatrique. Volume 84, Number 4, 311-6, Avril 2008, le réel, la pensée et le virtuel

Résumé   Article gratuit

Author(s) : Élise Lallart, Roland Jouvent

Summary : Virtual reality in schizophrenia: a risk or a therapeutic tool?Virtual reality has been used in psychiatry to treat anxiety disorders. However this new technique is still too rarely used in other psychiatric pathologies such as schizophrenia because of the potential risks of losing grip on reality. In this study, we evaluate the pros and cons of virtual reality in order to gain a greater insight into its risks and therapeutic aspects. We wish to show that, schizophrenic symptoms are not worsened by virtual reality, and that virtual reality could be used as a therapeutic tool to remediate agency.

Keywords : schizophrenia, virtual reality, presence
