Résumé   Article gratuit

Author(s) : Florian Houssier

Summary : Congenital blindness and sensory issues in transferenceWe relate the psychoanalytical psychotherapeutic case of a young woman who was blind from birth to underline the power of the link with the mother. Taking into account a cultural dimension which infiltrates the psychic conflicts of this patient, we centre the discussion around two questions: Is there a specificity in the fact of being born blind? How may we consider sensory investment in the transference relationship? This last question is one focus of resistance, against a background of identity conflict and unelaborated matricidal wishes.

Keywords : blindness, matricidal fantasies, culture, sensoriality, identity conflict
