Trauma in questions

l'Information Psychiatrique. Volume 79, Number 4, 299-306, Avril 2003, Après coups

Résumé   Article gratuit

Author(s) : Didier Papéta

Summary : The increase in the last decade of events capable of inducing psychotraumatic disorders has led the public authorities to set up a national network for dealing with medico-psychological emergencies. This system has by no means resolved everything however and numerous questions remain unanswered, giving rise to lively differences of opinion concerning the ways in which these teams are mobilised, their immediate or differed implication, their training, the techniques used and even the effect of their interventions on their own psyche, etc. With the aid of hindsight gleaned from several years of practice and reflection in this area, certain questions will be tackled which have until now remained unanswered.

Keywords : trauma, life events, post-traumatic stress, medico-psychological emergency, debriefing, secondary trauma, training of rescuers, recovery.
