Times and places for psychiatric dialogue: new sector practices

l'Information Psychiatrique. Volume 79, Number 2, 137-41, Février 2003, LE LIT ET LE DIVAN

Résumé   Article gratuit

Author(s) : Victor Souffir

Summary : The new home care procedures recommended in the current psychiatric trend encouraging psychiatrists to go towards the patient without waiting and emphasising the advantages of neighbourhood psychiatry are here subjected to a psychopathological critique. A comparison of the effectiveness of, on the one hand, traditional consultation and psychoanalytical psychotherapy and, on the other, emergency psychiatric intervention, shows that these two type of action must remain separate but must both be present and available in any modern sector.

Keywords : sector, consultation, emergency, defences, crisis, family, neighbourhood.
