Summary : Alcoholic liver disease (ALD) is one of the leading indications for liver transplantation (LT) in France and in Europe with results comparable to other indications. The main changes that have been observed in practice are: 1) a more precise definition of the candidates with an individual benefit in terms of survival, 2) a revision of the 6 months rule for abstinence, 3) an evaluation of an accelerated procedure for LT on a case-by-case basis in a selected population of patients with steroid-resistant alcoholic hepatitis and 4) a better prevention and detection of alcohol relapse after LT. |
