What are the environmental factors that promote gastric cancer?

Summary : The premalignant gastric lesions precede gastric cancer. There are chronic atrophic gastritis, intestinal metaplasia, dysplasia. H. pylorus is classified as a definite carcinogen. The prevalence of H. pylori infection varies according to country, age, socioeconomic status, and living conditions. Alcohol, smoking, and dietary habits were evaluated as potential gastric carcinogen in many cohorts and epidemiological studies. The aim of this review is to point out the environmental factors among the gastric cancer risk factors.
