Gastrokinetic drugs

Hépato-Gastro. Volume 16, Number 2, 129-35, mars-avril 2009, Mini-revue

Résumé   Article gratuit

Author(s) : Thierry Piche

Summary : Very few prokinetic drugs have a proven clinical effect. This situation is partly due to an insufficient knowledge of the physiopathological mecanisms of the functional digestive disorders and their symptoms. Available drugs are most often agonists or antagonists targeted at specific receptors that do not have sustained effects. Dopamine, serotonin, motilin and cholecystokinin receptors have all been targeted for the development of the pharmacological agents that will be reviewed here.

Keywords : prokinetic drug, 5-HT, dopamine, motilin, cholecystokinin
