Summary : Cloning of genes involved in the regulation of cellular proliferation, differentiation, maturation and activation should be a challenging tool for understanding molecular hematopoiesis. Identification and functional analysis of such genes, will allow to answer as fundamental questions in molecular hematology as the existence of key genes in hematopoietic stem cell renewal, progenitor cell commitment or specific lineage amplification.
In this review, we describe how " gene trap " can be a new approach adapted for cloning genes specifically induced by hemopoietic growth factors. This technology, already described for different biological systems was used with success for genes showing a very specific expression pattern during embryonic development |
Keywords : hematopoiesis, cytokine, gene trap, gene regulation. |
