Board Meeting, Paris, 2006. From the left: M Hertl, J-F Nicolas, K Iwatsuki, M-C Lasserre, L Macaire, L Braathen, L Borradori, G Markham, R Dummer, G Cahn, J Messenger.Front row: G Zambruno, J Thivolet, J Kanitakis, S Karpati.A warm thank you to all the Board Members who have worked hard over the last twelve months to ensure the continuing success of the European Journal of Dermatology! At the recent Board Meeting in Paris, France, during the Xth ESDR meeting, we were able to report an increase in the number of submissions from a total of 43 countries, from all the continents. New submitting countries this year included Russia, Malta and the United Arab Republics. I am also pleased to be able to report that the impact factor improved again in 2006 and the EJD has moved up in the rankings of dermatology journals. As announced last year [1] there have been two major changes for the EJD in 2006. The first was the introduction from January 1st of online submission at the address: http://libbey.fontismedia.com/ejd/. Within the first week we had already received several articles and I would like to thank the co-editors who have learned to use this new tool so quickly and successfully. The second change for the journal was the introduction of a new rubric, ‘correspondence’, in the March/April issue. Correspondence consists of short reports and letters to the editor, limited to a maximum of 600 words. This has enabled us to accept 57 interesting articles in 2006, many of which we would not previously have had enough space to publish. Finally, there is a new dedicated site for the journal:http://www.europeanjournalofdermatology.com.To all our readers and authors, the whole world over, I wish an active and productive 2007.
