Editorial 2004

As the European Journal of Dermatology enters its 14th year, it is with great pleasure that I report another successful year for the journal, with an increasing number of articles submitted and a satisfying increase in their quality.
At the recent Board Meeting in Barcelona, Spain, we were pleased to be able to report that the impact factor of the journal continues to improve, and that the journal is now indexed in the Index Copernicus, having an IC value of 15.19 for 2003. The number of countries contributing articles continues to increase - the majority of articles are still received from Europe, Japan and the USA, but we have also accepted articles from countries as far apart as the French West Indies, Hong Kong and Uruguay over the past year.
With the advances in electronic communications the website version of the journal is consulted more and more frequently and the rapid publication of articles after acceptance is one of the important features of the EJD.The EJD Book series remains an important part of our work and “Vaccins, intolérance et allergie” (in French) was published in 2003.
To all our readers and authors, the whole world over, I wish an active and productive 2004.
