Summary : A 41-year-old man had unilateral atypical mole syndrome manifesting dorsally on his left upper quadrant. We performed a skin graft (from the buttock) after excision of the malignant melanoma which had developed on the atypical mole syndrome region. At the 5-year follow-up, we observed the appearance of a clinically atypical mole on the grafted skin, although during the 5-year period no atypical moles had appeared at sites other than the atypical mole syndrome region. The mole on the grafted skin was histologically confirmed to be an atypical mole. We discuss the development of the atypical mole on the grafted skin in this patient. |
Keywords : unilateral atypical mole syndrome, skin graft, local genetic factors. |
