ARTICLE
It is with great pleasure, as always, that I sit down to write the editorial
for the first issue of the year.
The EJD Board met in Paris in December and reported a very encouraging
progress in both the activity and notoriety of our journal.
The impact factor has now almost doubled over twelve months, which reflects
the excellent work of our editorial offices and Board Members. The number
of editorial offices has risen to five with the opening of a North American
office in Philadelphia, run by Reza Ghohestani. This has resulted in a
large and welcome increase in the number of articles received from American
authors. All the editorial offices have reported more articles submitted
over the past year and the rejection rate is now nearly 50%, particularly
for clinical reports of which we receive far more than can be published.
The pleasing increase in the number of investigative reports is also
important for the reputation of the journal. The EJD Book Series
continues to produce books in French and English of interest to specialists
but also to general practioners, students and even patients.
The latest in the series was "Aspirine et AINS : intolérance
et allergie" (in French). Full details of the Book Series, as well as
present and past issues of the EJD, can be found on our publisher's website.
This electronic access has opened up the journal to a new public and is
proving a great success.
To all our readers and authors, the whole world over, I wish an active
and productive 2002.
