In 1990, we identified a new disease entity involving the oral mucosa which we termed chronic ulcerative stomatitis (CUS) [1, 2]. The clinical presentation is often diverse, bearing similarities to desquamative gingivitis, cicatricial pemphigoid or ulcerative lichen planus.
