Antiangionic drugs in soft tissue sarcoma |

Summary : Angiogenesis is an essential prerequisite in the growth and dissemination of soft tissue sarcoma. The understanding of the VEGF and VEGFR pathway implication in the development of non GIST soft tissue sarcoma and the discovery of the antitumoral activity of drugs that inhibit this pathway in other solid tumors, led to the development of antiangiogenic drugs anti VEGF in soft tissue sarcoma, as monoclonal antibody (bevacuzimab) or as small molecules (tyrosine-kinase inhibitors anti VEGFR). This manuscript presents the results of the first clinical trials that have evaluated the efficacy and safety of some angiogenesis inhibitors in soft tissue sarcomas. |
