After the writing of a first article on recommendations related to the treatment of adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis, the aim of this study was to evaluate GPs’ role in the field and to a larger extend, the role of primary care practitioners in the treatment of patients with scoliosis. We observed a population of teenagers carrying a brace, all patients from the spine department of Saint-Étienne's hospital. We conducted qualitative semi-directed interviews. Seven practitioners were interviewed, including five GPs, a pediatrician and a sports doctor. We worked with practitioners from multidisciplinary teams to try establishing a practice guide. The role of primary care physicians is to be found in the screening and the initial diagnosis of spinal pathology, usually spotted at the time of writing no contraindication to sports activities certificates at the beginning of the year. This study contemplates ways to improve the quality of care as well as the relationships between the hospital and the outside.
