The PPS is a severe chronic disease, seriously affecting the quality of life. This is the most common complication of deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Its diagnosis is clinical. A simple listing such as that of Villalta will be sufficient for the diagnosis and monitoring of its evolution. The best preventive treatment of PPS remains that of DVT in patients identified as being at risk. It is still not possible to predict changes in a given patient with much accuracy.

Are compression stockings effective for the prevention of SPP? They are probably not enough, especially because of the practical difficulty of compliance, but it would probably be unwise and despairing because of the lack of an alternative to conclude without nuance from the negative data SOX.

Pharmacological treatment of PPS is extremely limited. The drug called “veinotonic” has now clearly no place for it. Thromboprophylaxis in patients at high risk for DVT is highly recommended.
