Intrauterine devices (IUDs) are the first reversible contraceptive method in the world, but only 1.3 % of nulliparous women in France used it in 2010. Access for nulliparas could be improved by better dissemination of information to professionals and society and thus change attitudes about misrepresentations associated with the IUD. Despite the reservations related to pain and technical difficulties of installation, it is recommended to integrate the IUD in the contraception's panel proposed to nulliparas and to accompany women towards an informed choice.
