Chronic renal insufficiency (CRI) patients and especially hemodialysis patients present an impaired immune system and are thus more exposed to infectious diseases. Therefore, it is important to vaccine these patients in order to prevent infectious diseases. However, because of this impaired immune system, responsiveness to vaccination in CRI patients may be reduced and usual vaccination schedules can be ineffective. The aim of this article is to review the studies on the use of vaccines in CRI patients, in order to determine whether dosage adjustment may be necessary in these patients.
