The acute hepatic porphyrias consist of a group of pharmacogenetic disorders of haem biosynthesis which are characterised by attacks of abdominal pain and neurological dysfunction. Neurologic manifestations are the only features of clinical importance for life threatening. When an attack of acute porphyria is diagnosed, human hemin (Normosang®) may be therapeutically effective and improve the prognosis if giving early. This paper provides with information about characteristing investigations and rules of delivery in France.
