After a brief summary of the fondamental basis of the use of angiogenesis factors in the treatment of pathologies associated to tissular ischemia, brief results concerning five phase I clinical genetic therapy trials are presented. One trial is based on the treatment of critical limb ischemia by transfer of the gene which encodes for the VEGF 165 on ten patients, and four trials are based on the treatment of myocardic ischemia by transfer of the gene encoding for the VEGF 165 or VEGF 121 on 59 patients. First results are encouraging and would allow to evaluate phase II and III clinical assays in the future.
