Clinical pharmacy was established in The Regional Hospital of Orleans in 2009. Today, this activity is practiced in 8 medical care units. The aim of our study was to assess the level of physicians’ satisfaction with the function of clinical pharmacist in a care unit. Material and methods.A satisfaction survey was proposed to the 79 physicians of the concerned medical care unit related to a clinical pharmacist. Three items were discussed: the relevance of relayed information, overall quality of interactions, and expectation of the physicians towards pharmacist's interventions.Results.Physicians’ response rate was 30%, it was higher for the physician's assistants (62.5%), than the hospital practitioners (30%), and the residents (24%). As to the relevance of the transmitted information during pharmaceutical analysis, physicians are overall satisfied with dosage adjustments, report of contraindications, drug interactions, pharmacological redundancies, and proposal of therapeutic equivalents. The prescriber's expectations about the pharmacist's interventions were: information about the drugs (97%), assistance with drug safety declarations (93%), information to caregivers (86%), therapeutic education (85%), and drug mediation. For them, it was important to be properly guided for the establishment of a prescription, to be advised for administration, therapeutic, side effects and clinical follow-up.Conclusion.Clinical pharmacy activity is viewed very positively by physicians who answered the questionnaire but it needs to be simplified to improve the number of responses for a next survey.
