One hundred seventy million people are concerned with hepatitis C in the world, including 500 000 in France. In 75% of the cases, primary infections are asymptomatic, explaining poor diagnosis at this stage. This disease is usually diagnosed late; patients’ management is difficult, associated with other pejorative factors such as alcoholism. Mr C. is an adult patient, important alcohol drinker, with chronic hepatitis C diagnosed at advanced cirrhosis stage. This case shows the frequently asked questions about hepatitis C treatment : interest to treat at cirrhosis stage, necessary conditions to treat an alcoholic patient and what is the best treatment in this case?
