Attention-deficit and hyperactivity disorder remains an unstable nosographic entity, but this instability emphasizes certain epistemological characteristics of mental health sciences.

As it is possible to build different reality representation models from the same observable data, we must accept that several paradigms may exist together inside the same scientific discipline. This article questions the conditions of possibility of this coexistence, and its utility.

In fact, attention-deficit and hyperactivity disorder can be considered as a picture of mechanisms through which this discursive multiplicity takes form, and how it works.
