The function of the body in eating disorders Volume 85, issue 1, Janvier 2009

20, rue de Loos, 59000 Lille

We discover what the body constraints imposed by the addictive anorexic and bulimic habits can reveal. Are patients aware of their irrepressible and incessant need for action or of their muscle hypertonicity that may lead to pain? Do the control of somatopsychic processes, excessive food absorption or restriction that stimulates or suffocates feelings and vomiting that empties the stomach and the head at the expense of other bodily functions not prevent these patients from processing their inner distress or violence? With them, we look for the right words to help them live in their bodies.
