Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is frequent. It is a benign condition but, due to the chronicity of symptoms and their possibility of relapse, IBS has a major impact on quality of life. Alteration in quality of life during IBS is as important as in patients with type I diabetes or chronic renal insufficiency requiring hemodialysis. It is proportional to the severity of IBS and comorbidities associated to IBS probably increase this alteration. Medical treatments but also psycho-education interventions can improve symptoms and quality of life.
