Physical activity, when appropriate, is a therapeutic tool increasingly used and recommended in chronic diseases. Physical activity has shown a positive impact on the quality of life of patients, associated with improved scores of depression and fatigue. Physiological mechanisms of the beneficial effects of adapted physical activity are not yet clearly elucidated, it acts in particular on chronic inflammation via the secretion of myokines during the muscular contraction. Its role in the management of chronic inflammatory bowel disease is not yet clear, but current evidence suggests that it may improve the quality of life of patients. Adapted physical activity is now part of our therapeutic arsenal and could be prescribed and supervised by professionals trained in the management of those patients.
