* This news is based on the following article: Power M, Kioumourtzoglou MA, Hart J, Orereke O, Laden F, Weisskopf M. The relation between past exposure to fine particulate air pollution and prevalent anxiety: observational cohort study. BMJ 2015; 350:h1111. doi: 10.1136/BMJ.h1111
This large-scale US study is the first to provide epidemiological evidence of a relation between exposure to fine particulate matter in the air and anxiety in ageing women from the Nurses’ Health Study (NHS). It suggests that the effect is associated with fine rather than larger particulates and that recent exposure has greater effect than past exposure.
