Although this is an emerging field of research, the neurological effects of air pollution have already been examined in a large number of epidemiological studies. This review of the diverse literature reveals two major defects common to most studies and likely to have strong influence on the results: inaccuracy in exposure assessment and the lack of control for potential confounders.
