Les facteurs de risque d’obésité infantile : un vaste champ d’investigation Volume 17, issue 5, September-October 2018

This news is based on the following article: Lichtveld K, Thomas K, Tulve NS. Chemical and non-chemical stressors affecting childhood obesity: a systematic scoping review. J Exp Sci Environ Epidemiol 2018 ; 28 : 1-12. doi : 10.1038/jes.2017.18

These authors review the recent work on possible causes of the increased prevalence of childhood obesity. Although they note progress in several areas, they consider that the studies remain too focused on the impact of isolated elements of children's residential environments. They call for research to examine the complex interactions between multiple types of factors, envisioned here in two categories: chemical and non-chemical stressors.
