This news is based on the following article: Gibson EA, Siegel EL, Eniola F, Herbstman JB, Factor-Litvak P. Effects of polybrominated diphenyl ethers on child cognitive, behavioral, and motor development. Int J Environ Res Public Health 2018 ; 15 : 1636. doi: 10.3390/ijerph15081636

Most studies examining cognitive, behavioral, or motor skills in children prenatally exposure to polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) support an adverse effect of these compounds. According to the authors of this article, however, this literature has flaws that prevent any definitive conclusions. They call for more standardized research practices and more detailed study of the toxicity mechanism.
