A seven-year-old girl presented with a five-year history of a black-grey lump with mild pain affecting the right side of the face (figure 1A). Her father reported a history of skin abrasion on this side of the face five years ago. A localized lump with tenderness developed after the wound healed. The lump did not improve with topical antibiotic treatment.
